SUCCESS in MARKET HARBOROUGH

The Licensing Guys are delighted to congratulate outgoing Licensee Andy FAULKNER on the successful variation of the Premises Licence of the Shires Inn & Restaurant in Peatling Parva. A central feature of the community in this rural village location, the addition of licensed hours during the afternoon paves the way for the restaurant to develop and thrive.
And it will! After nearly 30 years managing the premises and growing the business into the success it is today, the premises will now pass into the sympathetic, safe and experienced hands of incoming operator Roseacre Pub Company who will now take over the business, continue his great work, and write the next chapter.
Formed in 2014 with the aim of creating the best local pub restaurants, serving excellent ‘hearty’ food and drink accompanied by friendly, caring service and great value prices, Roseare is an independent, family-owned company with around a dozen venues across the Midlands. Each oozing individual character but with core common values, whichever of their pubs you visit, you really will feel part of the family.
The Variation, simply to remove the old ‘1964’ style hours forcing the pub to close every afternoon, was actually taken to a contested Hearing in Market Harborough by some neighbours who worried about car parking and noise from people leaving at closing time. However, The Shires has car parking for 52 cars with an additional overflow capacity for a further 20 odd cars, and the Variation reduces the closing times from 2 per day to 1. Andy spoke authoritatively about the need for the removal of the ‘dead spot’ in their trading day and their positive relationship with the Parish Council and village residents. Mike MAUGHAM explained his priorities around supporting the village as the incoming DPS and Manager, and Ash GARTSHORE provided a convincing overview of Roseacre’s success in managing other premises nearby and across the region which completely support and complement village life with zero issues. The Variation was therefore granted, in the terms applied for.
Congratulations Roseacre! We are proud to have worked with you in accomplishing the changes required and look forward to partnering with you and providing Licensing support and guidance across your estate.
