You need to apply for a Premises Licence if you want to use your premises to do one or more of the licensable activities. Clearly, selling alcohol to the public requires a Premises Licence, but so are these other licensable activities: Performance of a play. Exhibition of a film. Some indoor sporting events. Boxing or wrestling. Contest, exhibition or display of boxing or wrestling with a martial art. Some live music. Recorded music. Some dance performances. It takes a few days for us to complete an application for a Premises Licence, and then there is a 28 day Public Consultation Period. If at the end of the Consultation Period, no Responsible Authority or Member of the Public has made an Objection (termed a 'Representation') then the Licence is issued automatically. If someone does object, then a Hearing will be convened in the Local Council Offices where the matter will be decided by the Licensing Authority. You will be updated about the status of your license regularly by our team. Applying for a Personal Licence to sell alcohol in England and Wales involves several steps.
